WT 0001 Irish Thatch Cottage, Co Waterford This is how the cottage's in Ireland would have looked throughout the 1800s and up till the 1980's. Sadly these cottages are getting more rare as people now built cottages with a slate roof, I guess it's due to saving on costs, as it is around £15,000.00 to thatch these days and will only last about 30 years.
